So I'm actually back to writing today, and after reading over revisions I made about a year ago, I already need a distraction. But blogging is still writing, right?
Anyway, I feel like I need to catch up on all the things that happened while I was absent from the blogosphere. So if you remember, we are not good with pets. Absolutely horrible with pets. And while I was pregnant, our pet rat Bailey died.
The kids didn't handle it well.
Maile (throwing both hands up in the air and crying): Why! Why, Bailey? Why!
Kea (crying but a fraction calmer than Maile): Mom, sometimes I really hate the circle of life.
And then Kea took a lot of pictures AND video of the dead animal before they buried it. I decided to spare all of you by not posting them, so just use your imagination.
So another pet is dead, and they're asking for another one. I keep trying to placate them with arguments like, "But we have a baby human. Why would we need a baby puppy when we have a baby human?" Fortunately we all adore the baby human, so we may be able to put off getting another pet for awhile and thereby save another animal from an unfortunate demise.
